The earliest this family has been traced is to John Mullens, surgeon, of London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John Mullens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Mullens was married to Anne Hunte on 4 Jun 1583 at St. Stephen&#8217;s, Coleman Street in London.<sup data-fn=\"04528edd-6244-4e52-a640-edb8c9cb1bd9\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#04528edd-6244-4e52-a640-edb8c9cb1bd9\" id=\"04528edd-6244-4e52-a640-edb8c9cb1bd9-link\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"117\" src=\"https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-6-1024x117.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-6-1024x117.png 1024w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-6-300x34.png 300w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-6-768x87.png 768w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-6-900x102.png 900w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-6.png 1247w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Records of baptism for several of their children have been found in the St. Stephen&#8217;s, Coleman Street Parish Register:<sup data-fn=\"568df4ef-40f9-4e7f-9b60-1a9fa5f1fa4c\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#568df4ef-40f9-4e7f-9b60-1a9fa5f1fa4c\" id=\"568df4ef-40f9-4e7f-9b60-1a9fa5f1fa4c-link\">2<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Christenyng of Susan Mollyns the daughter of John Mullens the xviiith of September (1587)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mary Mullens daughter to John Mullens the viith of December (1589)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thomas Mullins sonne to John Mullins baptized ye xiiiith of February (1590\/1)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A record for the baptism of his son James has not been found. It appears that Susan and Thomas probably died young as they are not mentioned later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John left a nuncupative will dated 18 Aug 1603 and proved 29 Aug 1603 in which he mentions his daughter Marie Mullens and son James Mullens.<sup data-fn=\"6e5a5a7d-a0c2-42bb-9a0f-7aa33541150c\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#6e5a5a7d-a0c2-42bb-9a0f-7aa33541150c\" id=\"6e5a5a7d-a0c2-42bb-9a0f-7aa33541150c-link\">3<\/a><\/sup> He describes himself as chirurgeon of London, an archaic term for a surgeon. Present during the giving of the will were friends William and Hester Knowles, Thomas Tennaunt, Barbara Mullens and others. The mention of the Knowles is significant in identifying his son James and one of James&#8217;s daughters was married to a Knowles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ann had died just previously to John in March of 1603 and was buried 5 Mar 1602\/3 at St. Stephen, Coleman Street.<sup data-fn=\"1e5ab2fd-b755-406f-83cf-700a7e879605\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#1e5ab2fd-b755-406f-83cf-700a7e879605\" id=\"1e5ab2fd-b755-406f-83cf-700a7e879605-link\">4<\/a><\/sup> A son named John was was buried there the 3rd of August that same year. He wrote his will on 28 Nov 1638.<sup data-fn=\"dd4e327c-b414-477e-aebb-aa7796fbecf5\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#dd4e327c-b414-477e-aebb-aa7796fbecf5\" id=\"dd4e327c-b414-477e-aebb-aa7796fbecf5-link\">5<\/a><\/sup> He styled himself citizen and barber surgeon of London and commended himself to God &#8220;believing by and thorough the alone merrittes and satisfaccon of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have free remission of all my synnes heere and everlasting life hereafter.&#8221; He mentioned his wife Aurelia to whom he gave his property in St. Andrew parish in Holborn, London. He mentioned a bunch of other property in the area including at Shoelane, a street in Holborn, occupied by various tenants to his eldest son James and other sons Edward, John, William, Matthias, and Charles. He mentioned his grandson James, eldest son of Edward. Later he mentioned &#8220;my three daughters Lucy Knolles wife of Thomas Knolles Dora Aurora Pepper wife of Richard Pepper and Aurelia Coxe wife of William Coxe&#8221; who received sums of money. He then named more grandchildren: Lucy Knolles, Aurelia Knolles, Thomas Knolles, and John Knolles; Aurelia Pepper, Elizabeth Pepper, Jane Pepper and John Pepper; Jane Molins daughter of James Molins. Finally, he mentioned his sister Marie Pilkington(?). He gave five pounds to the Maister and Wardens of the Mistery &amp; Commonality of the Barbers and Suregons of London to be distributed among the poor of that company. He also gave twenty pounds &#8220;for and towards the fynishing of the theater att Barbor Surgeons hall London.&#8221; He also gave five pounds to the poor of the parish of St. Andrew, Holborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A marriage record for James and Aurelia has not been found, but she is identified as the daughter of the famous John Florio in his will which mentions &#8220;my daughter Aurelia Molins&#8221; and later &#8220;my sonne in law James Molins.&#8221;<sup data-fn=\"e659c2c3-7bcc-4de7-bead-2ffd091cd9ac\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#e659c2c3-7bcc-4de7-bead-2ffd091cd9ac\" id=\"e659c2c3-7bcc-4de7-bead-2ffd091cd9ac-link\">6<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baptisms for many of his children have been found in the records of St. Andrew, Holborn:<sup data-fn=\"64e38036-d3b3-4757-82df-1d1f8d1a7e25\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#64e38036-d3b3-4757-82df-1d1f8d1a7e25\" id=\"64e38036-d3b3-4757-82df-1d1f8d1a7e25-link\">7<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>James the sonne of James Mullens bapt the same daie (3 Apr 1605)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fredericus Mullins the sonne of James Mullins bapt the same daie (9 Nov 1606)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dorothy the daughter of Jeames Mullens bapt the xxv of October (1607)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theophilus the sonne of James Mullins bapt the iiith of Mch (1608\/9)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deraurora or Theraorora the daugh of Mr Mullens barb Shoe Lane bapt xxvith (Aug 1612)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>John sonne of James Mullens barbchirurgion in Shoe Lane bapt the xxith (May 1615)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willm Mullins the sonn of James Mullins Barber Sur &amp; Aurelia his wife in Shoe Lane bap the 27th February (1616\/7)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mary Mullins Daugh of James Mullins barber Surgion &amp; Aurely his wife in Shoe Lane was bap the 15 (Feb 1617\/8)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aurelia Mullins Daughter of James Mullins Barber Surgion &amp; Aurelia his wife out of Shoe Lane was baptised the 21 of Aprill 1619<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Margaret Mullins Daughter of James Mullins barber surgion and of Aurelya his wife in Shoolane was bap the 28 (Sep 1620)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Matthias Mullins sone of James Molins Suyurgion &amp; of Aurelia his wife in Shoe Lane was baptised the 3d of May 1622<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The burial record for James states that he died 3 Dec 1638 at his house at Newington, Middlesex and was buried at St. Andrews, Holborn in London on the 6th.<sup data-fn=\"b3a69497-765a-409e-be1f-1b5c797b4644\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#b3a69497-765a-409e-be1f-1b5c797b4644\" id=\"b3a69497-765a-409e-be1f-1b5c797b4644-link\">8<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"210\" src=\"https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8-1024x210.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8-1024x210.png 1024w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8-300x61.png 300w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8-768x157.png 768w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8-900x184.png 900w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8-1280x262.png 1280w, https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-8.png 1328w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His wife outlived him, writing her own will on 7 Feb 1640\/1. She described herself as &#8220;Aurelia Molins widowe late wife of James Molins tholder cittizen &amp; Barber Chirurgion of London deceased.&#8221; She named her children including &#8220;my daughter Aurelia Cox the wife of William Cox&#8221; to whom she gave five pounds.<sup data-fn=\"5157ef41-e86f-4c60-95c4-96365f6a4c77\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#5157ef41-e86f-4c60-95c4-96365f6a4c77\" id=\"5157ef41-e86f-4c60-95c4-96365f6a4c77-link\">9<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aurelia Mullens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aurelia was baptized on 21 Apr 1619. She was married to William <a href=\"https:\/\/genealogy.reeveshome.org\/main\/cox\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"498\">Cox<\/a> on 23 Jun 1635 at St. Mary, Stoke Newington, Middlesex County.<sup data-fn=\"aa279504-c79b-495f-ad19-dea7f5cb6230\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#aa279504-c79b-495f-ad19-dea7f5cb6230\" id=\"aa279504-c79b-495f-ad19-dea7f5cb6230-link\">10<\/a><\/sup> They had six children.
